Under pressure Randy "Duke" Cunningham betrays his "100% Pro-Life" stance...

"Run and cover" Cunningham seems to be a bit frightened. He has abandoned his staunch "pro-life" stance for middle ground. Here is a guy that has been in office for 14 years and has scored a A+ from the "pro-life" platform - Now, with Francine Busby threatening his comfortable position, he has run for cover.

Now part of his move contextual. The argument for this "stem cell research" is that there are a number of frozen embryos stored from 2001. The House just recently passed a bill that would allow the unused embryos to be used for genetic stem-cell research.

Social conservatives and Christian fundies believe that the embryos are life and should not be used for research at all. Instead, they want families to adopt embryos. They call the Snowflakes, named after the Nightlife Christian Adoption Agency. Now, here are some facts.

According to Slate:

Actually Snowflakes’ estimate of 100,000 embryos is probably very low. Most
experts think there are as many as 400,000 embryos frozen in storage in the
United States. As of just over a year ago, the Snowflakes program had received
about 750 of them and had matched 70 donor couples with 48 other couples seeking
to have children. Sixteen babies had been born.

...And...

Despite Snowflakes’ rhetoric, most frozen embryos are not healthy enough to ever
become babies. The chance they will grow to full term is about one in 10 for
those frozen less than five years, and even less for those that have been frozen
longer. This is why so few couples have taken Snowflakes up on its idea of
“adopting” frozen embryos.

The article goes ondescriberibe that the Snowflake rhetoric attempts to equate adopting a child is equal to adopting and embryo. The odds of survival are veveryvery, very slim. But, they won't talk about that. After all this is a matter of life and death.

To properly frame this argument in terms of political capital, this would cost Cunningham. Plus, a large number of Republicans voted for this bill, even thought President Bush threatened a Veto. This shows that Republican support is wavering, and the she's been on this side of the argument all along.

Duncan Hunter doesn't know how to treat women - equally.

Heather Wilson - Representative or New Mexico. Female Military Veteran.

The people who are pushing this policy change intend to close positions, not
open them," she said. "I think it's offensive. We've got women thousands of
miles from home doing dangerous work and for the first time in history the
Congress is going to pass a law restricting how the Army can assign its
soldiers? But not all of its soldiers -- just women. What are they thinking?"

Duncan Hunter - Representative for California. Male Military Veteran.

"The morale of Navy wives already has suffered from allowing women to serve on
Navy ships," he warned

I don't get what he is talking about... Is he more worried about the wives of military soldiers, or the soldiers on the battlefield? I'm sure any solider would love to have an extra set of eyes trained on the battlefield to protect their squad - man or woman. Rather, than the sadness of their wives due to the fact, they share a bunk and mess hall with fellow soldiers who are women.

With low recuitment numbers for 4 months straight... Now is not the time for Duncan Hunter to be picky about what women are doing on the battlefield. They are fighting a war. Good enough?

Pissing off Muslims: Newsweek vs Bush

Laura Bush...running into trouble.

I find it quite odd that the Newsweek retraction seems to be the biggest news as of right now because is supposedly cause 15 deaths and 30 injuries - weaking the relations between Pakistan and Afganistan and the USA.

Read this quote...

In Iraq, columnist Waleed Zubaidi writing in the Baghdad daily Azzaman said that
"it is really
sad and offensive to see the Bush team blaming Newsweek for why
Muslims hate the United States."
The "Bush administration's criticism of
Newsweek is a deliberate attempt to blame the U.S. media for its military
failures in both Iraq and Afghanistan," he wrote.
"U.S. policy, in Islamic
countries and worldwide, does not care much for religious feelings and their
impact on the Muslims' positions," wrote columnist Abdullah Iskandar for the
pan-Arabic daily
Al-Hayat "The U.S. did not seek, or failed to understand them,
when the campaign to improve Washington's image in the Arab world was launched."

Still think that Newsweek articles are why Muslims people are pissed?!

Yet, the "Smoking Gun Memo" which has gotten very little media attention. Outlines, how the Bush administration was "fixing the intellegence to match the policy for invading Iraq...". The British know about it and acknowledge their memo. The Bush Administration ignores it. The press won't even bring it up to Scott McLellan, spokesman for the White House.

We know the CIA even admitted to "Group Think" and fixing/data mining reasons to attack Iraq. We even have Richard Clark who surfaced before the conflict to point out that Rumsfeld, Rice, and Cheney were working to focus on Iraq.

The Whitehouse attacking the press for making war look bad, is nothing more than "The mother of all smoke screens".

This is another whitewash/diversion from the facts about the War in Iraq.

UK war memo indicates BUSH administration attempts to invade Iraq

This memo came out before the invasion of Iraq in July of 2002. It declares that going to war is a bad idea and attempts to find jusfitication for it - when there is NONE!

There is more over at lies.com on this one...

Faulty intellegence, lies from the administration, and blood on our hands.

Bin Laden in a box...a cycle of violence.

In a new book titled, "First In: An Insider's Account of How the CIA Spearheaded the War on Terror in Afghanistan", the author, Gary Schroen, was one of the first CIA Agents to set foot in Afganistan to kill/capture Osama Bin Laden...and destroy the Taliban

His orders,
...the head of bin Laden delivered back to me in a heavy cardboard box filled
with dry ice, and I will take that down and show the president. And the rest of
the lieutenants, you can put their heads on pikes.

But is that what we want?! For people to know that he was killed, beheaded, and flown across the ocean!?! Would that only fuel the fire to destroy America? If we were horrified by the beheadings in Iraq... How does this become a legitimate goal for peace?

That puts us along the ranks of other ...people.

Randy "DUKE" Cunningham is Pledging support for Tom DeLay?!!?

This blew my mind.... Our own Randy "Duke" Cunningham is giving money to Tom DeLay's defense fund. Defense of Tom DeLay?! How are the actions of Congressman Tom Delay (R-Texas) dependable!?

It's a House of Scandal.

This is a HUGE wake up call for any of you in our community that voted for this representative. If he is supporting the defense of an unethical and unjust person, you may want to think twice about your own representative.

Wall of Shame:

  1. Randy "Duke" Cunningham CA-50
  2. Darrell Issa CA-49
  3. Duncan Hunter CA-52

As you can see teachers seem to understand California politics.

Oceanside and Carlsbad Teachers "Freeway Blog" for Prop 98

Teachers from Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, and Escondido (possibly more...reports are still coming in.) have decided to support for Proposition 98, which requires minimum funding for schools in California. Governor Schwarzenegger has been quoted saying, "We don't need 'auto-pilot' minimum formulas to determine our spending patterns in a finacial crisis".

This lacks a common sense approach. Sacrifice quality education for a balanced budget.
I don't think so...

Hopefully, the news will bring the issue to light... Prop 98.

Fox 6 steps up and wants to know more... will they listen?

March on...

Oceanside teachers... wave to the Carlsbad Teachers over on El Camino.

Over on Jefferson and I-78 Oceanside teachers make their presence known.

Even Superindendent John Roach drops by to lend support...

Talk about hands-on learning... It's a field trip for those kids!

There are plenty of concerned citizens out today.

Carlsbad Teachers proceed across El Camino Real and I-78.

Carlsbad teachers keeping it safe out on 78.

As you can see, teachers seem to understand California politics.

Richard Riordan Resigns

It's all over for another California Republican. What's with all the Republicans jumping ship?

It must be bad news.

Of course this is the same man that called a young girl, named "Isis" a "stupid, dirty, girl".

He is also the same guy that ate a hamburger in front of people at a hungerstrike.

In a three-tent encampment on the lawn of City Hall, 11 gardeners gathered to drink only water and Gatorade for seven days and seven nights...They did, however, get a visit from Mayor Richard Riordan, who discussed his intent to approve the leaf-blower ban while munching on a mayonnaise-dripping Bob's Big Boy hamburger.

Mr. Class Act.
